Debating is one of the favourite activities of many Alwynians as it plays a major role in developing the public speaking and thinking skills of the students. The school conducts 3 debates for every division in both Hindi and English which gives students a whole gamut of opportunities to improve their communication skills.  The school follows the Oxford format of debating for the Junior and the Intermediate Divisions and the Parliamentary or Cambridge format for the Senior Division.  

Acquiring the ability to be eloquent and articulate is a skill that stands students in good stead. Hence, Wynberg- Allen conducts an inter-house elocution competition for each division every year in both Hindi and English. These competitions also expose students to different genres and works of literature. 

Quizzing is an activity which not only increases one’s general awareness but also helps to develop mental acuity. Keeping this in mind, the school organises three inter-house quizzes per term, for every division. Along with this, the school also organises intra-school quiz competitions to enhance the students’ knowledge of current affairs. 

The school organises three inter-house dramatics competitions in English and Hindi every year, in addition to one annual play. In doing so, it provides budding actors a platform to showcase their acting skills. These competitions instil confidence in the participants, nurture creativity, and promote teamwork.

Music is the sound of magic and here at Wynberg-Allen, we encourage our students to avail of the many opportunities that are made available to them to hone their musical talent.  Every student is encouraged to learn an instrument. The school’s music room has a wide variety of instruments that the students can choose to play. The School Choir and Marching Band are among the finest in the country.  

The school has a well-equipped Art Room where our amazingly talented young artists create captivating canvases in a relaxing, tranquil environment, while listening to the strains of soulful music. 

Dance, an activity that instils grace, poise, self- discipline and balance, is very popular at Wynberg-Allen. Every year, our students win several laurels in prestigious inter-school dance competitions.

Spelling Bee competitions help to improve vocabulary and cognitive skills, thereby helping children to think, read, remember, learn, reason, and pay attention. Children learn how to break down huge words and to then intelligently work out how to spell them. It is for this reason that the school hosts three Spelling Bee competitions every year. 

Writing is an activity that not only develops one’s ability to express oneself well on paper but also stimulates one’s mind in the process.  Wynberg-Allen hosts different writing competitions in English and Hindi to provide our future writers with the opportunity to craft powerful stories and compose poignant poems. Some of our students have gone on to become excellent writers, the most recent one being  Harsheath Chauhan, the author of the famous, ‘Kaliyuga’, which is an impressive blend of mythology and science fiction.
